Auditorium

simple auditorium for unique presentations

a simple view

this lobby holds a small museum.

overall had fun working on my library, and i learn a lot in the proses.

Entrance

Patogeni Entrance

On the weekend I try to learn how to cook but i guess cooking is not for everyone lol. Also, while trying to learn something new I had a little of difficulty trying to simulate a night/dusk shot of the library but after changing a few setting and doing some post work, I ended up with this. On this view you are able to see Patogeni entrance. Patogeni is the name of my library. Patogeni is Italian for pathogens (Dictionary.com Pathogens -any disease-producing agent, esp. a virus, bacterium, or other microorganism.)

Tuve un Sueño

I was looking for a name for my library and a slogan. With the help of my friend i ended up with patogeni (Italian for pathogen). Pathogen infectious agent, or (more commonly) germ (wikipedia.org).

This is a view from one of the computer chair in my computer room.

Since i was unable to use rpc 64 for max i decided to use 3d people to show space.
(os is 64 only have 32bit rpc plugin)

Tuve un Sueño (I had a dream)
when working on my layout i felt asleep on my computer chair (ended up on the floor)and as i slept i dream about a space in my library. In my dream i seen my self walking around the computer tables and setting up some of the computers. When i woke up i started to replicate my dream and this is what i ended up with.

New Massing Model and People Trafic

This is my entrance define i will have to create a slope to provide a better look

This is the back side of my library

A view from underneath the Brige

Another view

This is an aerial view

A view from the fdr

This is another angle view of the main entrance

As you can see with all these picture people can easily travel through the sign during any time of the day.

Sketches

These are my New sketches

After beating my self up and trying to make my massing work, I finally figure out that it was impossible to (after my consultation). I tried new things, i try punting it halve way underground. I try using the whole concept of light sensitive and submerge it under and leave only the entrance. After trying to gain more space I realize that the wider the worms the more weird and less tapeworm like. It hit me "I would like to see you model laying on the site".

Simple Air Flow

This is my test of air flow around my site. Simple but visually helps to determined what kind of movement there is on the site. As you can see the heavy air flow is located on my lot. All the air escapes to land via that opening. The air that comes across and hit the building are force upwards and around.

Site View

Most of the air comes from the river and enters the only opening on the site. By adding a structure how would the air flow?

This opening allows the air from the river to flow in to the city.

Got Host?

The 3 sides
showing the 3 different sides

From another view
Seen the worms horizontally.

One Entity
A view of how it would all look.

Looking upwards
When underneath the worms you are able to see its movements to hold its host in place.

Sharing is caring
This image shows how all tapeworms are different but share something in common.

My second Massing

The dominant wins............ This idea came while washing a lion special on the Discovery channel. I came up with the whole idea of how cool it would be if discovery had a tapeworm documentary right after the lion special. My mind started to think on what would they show and how would they try to keep the audience glue to there seats. One idea that came to mind was having two tape worm and one host. How would these tape worm react to one another? Would they live side by side, or would they try to kill one another?

One Tapeworm

worm 1
seen the model upwards

worm 1.a
trying to make a nice sky

worm 1.b
seen the model from different angles

worm 1.c
The whole model

worm 1.d

worm 1.e
This is my first attempt to capture a host. In this massing model i focus on the vertical element as the host. Note on worm 1d and 1.e the worm is place horizontal.

Sketch Ideas

Idea
These are some of my ideas. I am working on the host idea. as you can see i am looking into how i can incorporate a tapeworm and the victim. In most cases i was thinking of a building being the host or two tapeworm trying to make each other a host.

Choice

Brooklying bidge

Or

Manhattan Site

I have great ideas for both sites. I would like to hold my choice until a few more days until I am able to figure out all the restrictions of each site.

What is it?

What is it?????????

This is my sketch and understanding of a cestoda. This Platyhelminthe parasites is the concept of my building. You may ask your self what is a Cestoda? Cestoda is a tapeworm.

Facts of a Tape worm
wikipedia :Cestoda is a class of parasitic flatworms, commonly called tapeworms, that live in the digestive tract of vertebrates as adults and often in the bodies of various animals as juveniles. Taenia saginata, the beef tapeworm, can grow up to 40 feet long (12 m); other species may grow to over 100 feet (30 m).

Reason
I know its weird and The disgusting topic but i am interested in how the tapeworm it self can be an inspiration for a human disease library.
One of the aspect of tapeworm i will be looking at will be the concept of a host. I am intrigue with the whole idea that a tapeworm needs a host to survive. Another aspect of the tape worm i will be looking at is the strobila. The strobila are the body segments of the tapeworm.

Building Typology

1. Which Building typology you are researching?
The building typology that I am researching is libraries.

2. Why are you researching this building typology?
the reason I am researching libraries is because there are many library with different design but all consist of a common goal, and that is the preservation of information.

3. What is the specialty of this building type you would like to research?
I would like to research a library that focus on the human diagnostic. a library that would hold all type of information about what type of sickness a human over time has overcome and has not found a cure for.

4. what are the example that you will be researching?
I would start by researching small library and then move on to medium then to complex. the whole reason for this step is to find a common ground among big and small libraries. among the small libraries i would start with :
1. Nishimachi International School, Yashiro Media Center by TOMURO Atelier + Kenichi Nakamura and Associates, located at Tokyo, Japan
2. Upper Riccarton Community and School Library, by Warren and Mahoney Limited, located Christchurch, New Zealand.
3. Gentry Public Library, by Marlon Blackwell, located Gentry, Arkansas

5. what are your goal for working with this building type?
My goal for working with this building type is to achieve a simple look that would appeal to my audience and would serve its purpose. also, a place where functionality, design, and productivity are a key factor of this building.

6. what are the program elements that you see included at this point in your building?
I would like to hold on from answering this question until a little more of research.
